Canon PowerShot SX1 IS
There are a lot of persons that are not quite decided on what to buy: a small point and shoot camera that can be easily carried everywhere and produces decent quality pictures, or a rather big and heavy DSLR that will offer the best pictures. Many of the ones that are in this situation go for the compromise solution and buy a bridge.
At the end of 2008, Canon announced a model that was going to be the perfect purchase for the persons above: the SX1 IS, a digital camera that would continue the successful tradition started several years ago with the almost legendary S1 IS. The current model comes with a great 10 megapixel CMOS sensor that along with the DIGIC 4 image processor is going to produce very good pictures. The user will have the possibility of changing the ISO value between 80 and 3200, but the pictures will look a bit grainy when shooting at high sensitivities.
We absolutely loved the video mode brought by the PowerShot SX1 IS, with its capability of recording videos in full high definition format (1920x1080 pixels) at 30 frames per second. We also enjoyed the quality of the 2.8 inches display, but we think that it could have been a bit bigger. To sum up, after testing the PowerShot SX1 IS for a couple of days, we advise the ones that are willing to spend around 550 US dollars on a digital camera to choose this great model from Canon.
