Fujifilm FinePix F200EXR
After we had a brief look over two of the most wanted semi-professional DSLRs on the market, it is time to also have a look at the mainstream sector of the digital camera market, the point and shoot models. They are small, affordable, offer a reasonable image quality and a lot of functions, being the perfect choice for the ones that just want to drag the camera out of the pocket, shoot the subject and put it back in, the ones we like to call amateurs.
The FinePix F200EXR was launched in April this year and it is the latest model of a series that gained notoriety with the wonderful F30. It comes with a pretty large 12 megapixel CCD EXR sensor that is capable of producing very clear images with sharp details, an ISO that can go up to 3200 and an integrated image stabilization function that works very well. The optical zoom level is average for this range, 5x, but from what we tested it seems to be enough in most cases.
The 3 inches display is not one of the strong points of this model and unfortunately neither the video mode that is only capable of VGA filming at 30 frames per second. The price is a bit high, around 350 US dollars, but the camera is a very good choice for an amateur that wants to take pictures at reasonable quality from time to time.
