Nikon D90

For the last years, when it comes to DSLR (digital single lens reflex) cameras, the battle has been between two giants: Canon and Nikon. Every time one launched a revolutionary model, along came the other and brought something new. This fierce battle brought not only progress in this domain, but also made DSLRs more accessible because competition always drags the prices downwards.

The Nikon D90 definitely was one of the most expected models of 2008, but its success will only be seen this year when it has become more affordable and more people have heard of it. But what is so special about this model anyway? Well, besides the superb 12.3 megapixel CMOS sensor that is capable of producing breathtaking images, the Nikon D90 was the first ever DSLR that could record videos in high definition format. 720p at 24 frames per second is not at all a small thing, especially if you have a look at how DSLRs are constructed.

Also, this model offers a 3 inch display that is capable of live view a brilliant auto focus system that can be used on no less than 11 points. After thoroughly testing the camera and after having a look at its price, around 1100$, we think that it is suitable especially for the ones that want to pass from a small point and shoot to a DSLR, the ones that we like to call semi-amateurs.
