Olympus E-620
We have talked about several of the best digital cameras currently on the market, but no word about Olympus, one of the traditional producers from this domain. Although in the last several years they couldn't keep up the pace with Canon and Nikon, it doesn't mean that they are not delivering quality cameras any more.
Lately, Olympus has turned their face towards entry level DSLRs that are offering surprisingly good pictures at great prices. The E-620 is a recently launched model that offers everything that is needed and even more for a DSLR first time user. Coming with a 13.1 megapixel sensor and a seven point focus system, it is able to produce great images with very sharp details. The sensitivity can be set between 100 and 3200 and after testing it in low light conditions we can say that it performs quite well at high ISO values.
In continuous shooting mode, the E-620 is able to capture images at four frames per second, but unfortunately it misses the possibility of recording videos. It would have been interesting to see how Olympus would have fought Canon and Nikon on the land of entry level DSLRs with high definition video mode. Still, the E-620 is a great camera for the ones that are looking for their first DSLR and because it costs only around 600 US dollars, we think that it would be a wise choice.
