Pentax Optio P70
After having a look over digital cameras from different categories and price ranges, from the most expensive ones to the ones with decent prices, it is time to recommend you a cheap model for the ones of you that are not that pretentious. Don't get it wrong, it is not a weak model, but one that can offer the best bang for the buck in the under two hundred dollars range. Pentax has announced the Optio P70 in January 2009 and it hoped to impress with a slim, nice looking body that will accompany very good image quality. After testing it for a couple of days, we believe that they have succeeded and brought us one of the best balanced low-price point and shoot cameras.
We did not expect to see such great images from a camera from this range, but the 12 megapixel CCD sensor does a great job. This model also comes with an acceptable 4x optical zoom and 9 point autofocus mode. Actually, we really did not like the 2.7 inches display, but it was perfectly understandable that they had to make a compromise somewhere in order to reach a street price of around 170 US dollars. The Optio P70 also does a great job when it comes to recording video files, being able to do it in high definition at 30 frames per second. Overall, it is a well balanced model that is highly recommendable for the ones that want a cheap, but qualitative digital camera.
